I'm not easily impressed but THIS is a really cool little feeder! The tube is very easy to fill and the top can also be attached very easily to the tube. I have noticed there have been quite a few complaints about the top being "broken" or buyers not being able to attach it to the body of the feeder. Most of these claims aren't true. To be fair, Perky Pet didn't include instructions on how to attach the top, but c'mon, it's not rocket science. The top can attached by placing it over the body and then depressing the small button while pulling UP on the wire hook from which it hangs. Doing this will lock the feeder in place and allow it to hang freely without tilting and spilling the feed.It took me all of 30 seconds to figure this out. Here are the Pros and Cons of this product: PROS 1) Easy to assemble and hang. 2) Mostly squirrel-proof as long as it is hung correctly. The only way squirrels can access the feed is by banging the hanging wire to cause the feed to spill to the ground. But even if they manage to do this, they don't get much and even then only when the feeder is mostly empty. 3) Birds absolutely LOVE this thing. 4) Holds up well in the weather. The top of mine has shown a little wear from the elements but it's still very functional. CONS 1) Some spillage will occur. The lower the quantity of the food in the tube, the more prone it is to tilting and spilling. It's still pretty minimal. 2) The feeder is really only intended for small birds like finches and cardinals. That said, the blue jays in our area still gravitate towards this thing pretty regularly. Unfortunately, because the jays are moderately larger (and messier) birds they will tend to tilt and scatter the feed more than than smaller birds. Again, you can reduce the tilting considerably by keeping it full of seed. As it gets more empty, spillage will be more pronounced but still not bad. Bottom line - BUY THIS FEEDER - It's a great deal for the money and will look GREAT in your yard plus you'll be a hero to birds everywhere.
