I bought this hairdryer because I wanted a dryer that had a lot of power AND would DIFFUSE really well. I'm on a mission to have beautiful boing-boing curly hair, see, and the diffusing is central to that goal. There are whole...sequences of hand movements and wrist flips and incantations and visualizations one must do whilst diffusing, as well, to get the full power of the boing-boing curl harnessed and instilled in each strand of hair, but primarily, here, I was just concerned with the combination of a good, sturdy hairdryer and a diffuser attachment that would truly create individuated curls without turning them into a limp, dull halo of frizz. So. The hairdryer itself is GREAT. It's really really powerful. It gets really hot, but the cool shot button works well. It doesn't take long to dry my head of hair. It's comfortable to hold. It doesn't feel like it overheats or stresses its own inner heat coils (which many dryers do). The diffuser, however, does NOT do its job. It breaks up the air flow -- without the diffuser, the dryer has a very solid column of air, and with it, the air flow does spread out -- but it isn't any less powerful or blowy or forceful, and because of that....frizz. Not curl. A head-full of frizz. Sigh. So. I'm stuck with a dryer I like but a diffuser that doesn't advance my Quest for the Holy Curl. I'm still experimenting with different heat settings, trying to see if that'll bring some curl back, and with the wrist flips and magical chants, of course. We'll see if any of these mechanations pleaseth the Great Follicle.
