My 105 pound Rottweiler had a swollen toe which he wouldn't stop licking. He was examined by our vet. After shaving his left toe and examining the area she found no foreign body in the skin and prescribed antibiotics for 10 days. He was sent home with a large, plastic uncomfortable cone. Instead, I used a cotton sock on his foot, but he'd remove it when I wasn't around and start licking his toe again. After reading reviews and ratings I chose the Comfy Cone collar XX-Large. It's padded, well made and works perfect. I didn't need to use my dog's collar to secure the cone since it holds in place with the velcro and the size can be adjusted. My dog is well behaved so it's not a problem. The cone extends far enough so he can't reach his toes. My dog has a 25 inch neck. Attached are two photos. Update: My dog had to wear the cone (again) for a week to keep from rubbing his eyes. He likes sleeping with the cone since it's comfortable and padded. After adjusting the size, I found that I can slip the cone on and off without having to secure the velcro each time - this makes it easier when taking him outside and feeding him. My dog has a big head which may be why I can carefully slip it on and off. He actually likes the cone.
