Yes this works, but here's a few things to know first. Don't do what I'm seeing others are doing on here and leave this on your hair for 30 minutes. That's waaay too long. I have dry coily 3c hair that breaks easily, and I wanted a color streak so this is what I did. I put this on but for only about 15 MINUTES. Treat this stuff like you would a relaxer on steroids, but in this case it's a bleaching agent. Don't overdo it. I cannot stress this enough. You may be tempted to leave it on for 20 minutes or more but you can wreck your hair if you do. Rinse it out and shampoo several times, condition. And if you have brittle or dry hair CHASE the process with a hot oil treatment so your hair no longer feels like straw. Oiling is critical and makes a huge difference. After I did a hot oil treatment, I then sealed my wet hair again with almond oil (or whatever LOC oil you might use in your daily process) and viola. No issues, my curl pattern reverted fine, and it didn't fall out. I ended up with a medium blonde color going from dark brown which will be perfect for when I dye it peach. The key with this kit is moderation for real. If you have dark brown or black hair, pace your treatments. Don't keep it in for too long, this will make or break your hair literally. And oil, oil, oil after you are finished. If you deep condition with a cap, that's another option too for after you've completed this. Good luck, and I hope this helps somebody.
