First off, I run my house mostly off solar. I have 40,000 watt system and keep my Phoenix house at 61 degrees during the daytime. I have been inventing solar stuff for 15 years. I say this so you understand that I have some experience and knowledge about this review. So, here goes... Price: I run eight 8,000BTU ac window units. I have used another brand (Jupiter brand from Harbor Freight) that costs 50% more. Those have worked well, but they go bad after about three years. Those are $170 plus tax. I got the Bestek for $118 total on Amazon. It is cheaper and still runs the ac units. Efficiency: AC units need about 3,800 watts to start up the compressor. This is a big load coming from a single battery with solar panels on it. Bestek comes with two cables for each side. I was skeptical as I run four wires per side on my old ones and have to use 10 guage solar wire. Surprise! The Bestek will start the unit and the wires don't get hot from being to thin. I think it is because Bestek has two terminal lugs per side on the unit instead of one. Sturdy: I think it is a sturdy as can be. Features: I love the handle and the battery wires with the alligator clips. Makes this super portable. I wish it had a power display so I know how much current it is producing. Others do, and this is good so I can see what the unit is doing, and even if it is running. It only has a green light that the unit is on. I also do like the ultra quiet fan. The unit runs much cooler than my others. Warranty: Comes with 1 1/2 year warranty verses only 90 days for others. Perfect! Conclusion: I am changing brand loyalty to Bestek. Cheaper, more efficient, and better warranty. Only downfall is no power meter.
