As others have stated, this string of lights is top, heavy-duty quality. I used zip ties to secure a string to my metal gazebo and it went quickly and looks quite nice. WHAT WOULD HAVE HELPED? 1) The directions tell you to peel the protective film off the solar panel. My panel, and as I’ve read in some of these reviews, did not have a protective film. I ran the risk of damaging he solar cells trying to dig for piece of the film I could grasp to pull off. Wasted time and potential damage to panel. 1) The directions suggest testing your string of lights before installing them. What they did not tell you was that such a test will result in the lights turning on only for 10-15 seconds. I thought I had a faulty set until I spent time reading Q&As on Amazon. Someone had called he company and was told that was normal in daylight. It has to be completely dark for the lights to stay on. That info in the instructions would have saved me time and a possible return. 3) There’s a lot of confusion re the solar rechargeable battery and the AA batteries in the Q&A and in the reviews. When I opened the box I expected to find a package rechargeable batteries that I would install in the solar panel. There is an empty battery compartment in the rear of the panel with slots for three AA size batteries. Experience had prepared me to believe that is where the rechargeable batteries were to be placed. I have nearly 40 solar lights in my backyard and they are all powered by an AA-size ni- cad battery. HOWEVER, these slots are for the “optional” AA back-up batteries. The ni- cad battery must be in the apparently inaccessible box above the empty optional battery compartment. That would have been useful info to know in advance. 4) It looks like these strings can be “ganged” together or at least add another solar panel. There is an identical connector at each end. Anyway, great set of lights. I hope the info above will save you a few headaches and make your install go well.
