Good light duty vac
The Black & Decker HNV220BCZ01FF Compact Hand Vac is a nice seccond hand vac for light duty work and quick pickups, but I wouldn't recommend it as your only hand vac. A good comparison is the Black & Decker CHV1410L BLACK + DECKER CHV1410L 16 volt Lithium Cordless Dust Buster Hand Vac which costs about twenty dollars more. The attached pictures how the two vacs side by side. The Compact Hand Vac is surprisingly powerful, but not quite as powerful as the full size vac (about 14.4 watts vs. 18.2 watts). The suction is good on both, but you can tell that the Compact Vac is a little less powerful. The Compact Vac weights much less than the full size vac (1lb 8oz vs,2lbs 10oz), but the full size vac has a very good ergonomic design which makes it feel lighter than it really is. As you can see in the attached pics, the full size vac has a much better filter system and it's attachments stay permanently attached even when they're not being used so that you'll never loose them. The full size vac can even rotate it's nozzle 90 degrees to help get into tight areas. One big difference is that the full size vac charges very quickly and when the battery is fully charged, the charger shuts off. In contrast, the Compact Vac charges very slowly and has no charge indicater LED -- it appears that the Compact Vac is using a "trickle" charge method which sends a small, constant current regardless of whether the battery is fully charged or not -- if that's the case, the battery in the Compact Vac will probably not last as long as the battery in the full size vac. All in all, if you need a small vac for quick pickups like pet food, this is a good option.
