So very cute and intriguing!
So very cute and intriguing! Mine finally flowered after 5 weeks of receiving the plant. I have it sitting by an eastern window, and the AM Sun through lace curtains warmed up the jar and produced condensations inside. The plant seems to like that--as soon as it started to get sunnier and warmer in July, it produced a flower stalk off the existing one (was already spent or "male"?) with the bud puffing up by the day. It was fun to watch, and now I'm loving my flowering orchid in a jar! Update - 3 years later. The plant's been doing great, and I love it! Looking back, It lived in the original jar (unopened and plastic sleeve intact) for... almost 2 years! I remember the gel was starting to look shriveled up and develop brownish discoloration, then I decided it needed a new home. So built a "moss & miniature orchid terrarium" and replanted the plant, and that was last spring. The plant (and others from the same seller I added) did really well during the season, grew bigger and flowered very well. The misc. moss are a lot more difficult to keep than this little Psygmorchis pusilla. Spring is here again this year, and I increased the misting/moisture level - and new flowers! Purchased: June 2017 Replanted in a terrarium: May 2019 Today: April 2020 Care: Eastern window of a Pacific Northwest home, living room temperature. After moving into Terrarium: During warm months, misting about a once a week to keep moist, use liquid orchid fertilizer spray about every other week. Keep the cover (has small ventilation holes) on other than right after heavier misting. During the coldest months, keep the cover on and pretty much forget about it.
