Excellent
This is perfect for me, and is exactly as it was described. For anyone who has spent time living in Asia and became accustomed to traditional floor sleeping, this is great. And for those who simply want to give it a try for health reasons(back pain) should definitely try this product. The floor mattress (shikibuton) is very comfortable, but if you are new to sleeping on hard surfaces, you might want to get an extra mattress and layer them together. Some people I know in Japan even layer 3 for their desired level of softness, so you should order an extra mattress or two if you are worried that this will be too firm. The Classe mattress by emoor is thicker than the rococo, so I would recommend that one. I highly recommend this product overall, and will probably be buying 2 more sets for guests. This is definitely easier than moving mattresses around (and vastly cheaper!). I move a lot for work and like to live a minimalist lifestyle, so this is perfect for me, but may not be for everyone. (It is also worth noting that futons like this typically have about a 3-4 year lifespan, and then it is time for a new one, so they are not a 30 year investment like a mattress would be. That being said, they are much CLEANER because you can wash the comforter, dry clean the mattress, etc as needed. In Japan, people hang their futons outside on sunny days to air them out and freshen them up. A traditional American mattress gathers skin cells, allergens, dirt etc over the years, with no real way to clean it. I am ok replacing my futons every few years or so, because the clean factor is important to me personally. Also, this particular size of futon is the traditional sizing in Japan. You cannot find sheets and mattress covers for this size in the US that are fitted. You can make due by laying flat sheets on top of the mattress and tucking the excess under, but the comforter will not fit in a typical twin duvet cover. You can order Emoor sheets/mattress cover sets for as little as $75 here on amazon though, and that is what I do. So these are a couple considerations for people who might be trying this out for the first time)
