Great for 9 months, then garbage
I have a lot of trouble falling asleep at night and often use music, audiobooks, or youtube videos to help me drift off via my smartphone. But one of the most irritating parts of doing so was finding a comfortable place to lie with my headphones in. I had hitherto been using earbuds, which I typically dislike, but they were the least bulky headphones I could find. Still, if you lie on your side with your head pressed against a pillow, it's like having a candy corn driven into your ear. So I did some research and found these. The most important aspect of them is their comfort level, which I would rate a 5. The are very light, such that you can almost forget you have them on. I've fallen asleep with them on many times. Because of their slim width, you can lay your head against a pillow in perfect comfort. You have to adjust the over-ear wires to fit your own ears, but they are completely flexible and moldable to fit anyone. Once you're set, they stay put even if you move around. The sound quality is just fine. I only have one complaint, and that is that the headphones don't press very close to your ears unless you're actually lying on them (in which case, only one side will be). Perhaps it's just my head/ear shape, but I would like them better if the phones themselves clung a little tighter to my ears. Because of the looseness, I often have to turn the volume up quite a bit to hear what I'm listening to. This is a small complaint, especially since I'm probably better off not blasting my ears so hard anyway, but it's enough of one for me to knock off a star. Overall, though, these are the best "use in bed" headphones you are likely to find, and serve their purpose remarkably well. ***EDIT 1/7/15*** I've had these headphones for about nine months now and just a couple of weeks ago one of the earpieces stopped working. One night I was lying in bed listening to music as I usually do. Suddenly, the sound started flicking in and out of the right earpiece. I checked the plug and it was secure. I tried adjusting the wire and the sound would come and go as I moved it. Finally, it gave out entirely and did not return. I'm guessing there was a short in one of the wires somewhere. I'm incredibly disappointed because until now, I had loved these headphones. They were perfect for sleeping. Now, I only get sound out of the left ear. I can't see any obvious physical damage to the wires or the phones themselves; they have received gentle treatment from me as I only ever use them in bed. In fact, they have never left my bedroom since the day I got them. I keep them sitting on an end table next to my alarm clock. I can only surmise that the workmanship of the headphones is poor and that they just gave out for no good reason. I would gladly buy another pair if this had happened a few years down the road from the time of purchase, but after less than a year? And for over $50? I feel cheated, and extremely disappointed because, once again, the headphones are great when they work. But if I can't be assured of getting a few years' use out of a product in the very specific use it was intended for, then that's a bridge burned. I retract my recommendation of this product and advise you look elsewhere. It's a damn shame.
