Dimming screen issues
Google samsung screen dimming or samsung screen dimming with subtitles. I really did my research, I have bought Samsung TVs for years because of the picture quality. I decided to upgrade to the QLED series this year and just bought 2 (55 " and 75" Q8fn series). I set up the 55" and tried netflix house on haunted hill (dark scenes) as soon as I turned on the subtitles the screen began to go from so dark no details could be seen to a good picture. It is bad enough it makes it unwatchable. I tried a DVD (girl with the dragon tattoo bluray 4KUHD) same problem. tried usb 2 connection, HDMI nothing made a difference. I thought perhaps there was a setting I needed to adjust so I went to the internet to look for the solution, only to find there is no solution, none of the solutions by samsung or by others solved the problem. Many people report returning the TV because of this issue, which in all my research I did not discover until I searched for that specific issue. If you are hearing impaired or watch anything with subtitles, you will be very disappointed. Don't take my word for it, go to a place and look at the screen and have one of the sales people put the subtitles on for you, you will see it instantly on anything that is all but the brightest scenes. the darker the scene the worse the problem. I wish I had known ahead of time it would have saved the trouble and inconvenience of returning the TVs. if you search it you will find it is a problem with several of the samsung models, my old one from 4-5 years ago did not have this issue, but this is really a problem that needs to be addressed. it is a shame that somehow this was missed in a top of the line TV. I went and looked at other brands and did not see the same issue.
