Superior Source makes a 'superior' product...
As Wikipedia illustrates: "A common man-made form of the supplement, cyanocobalamin, does not develop in quality, yet is utilized in lots of pharmaceuticals and supplements, and also as an artificial additive, because of its reduced cost. In the body it is converted to the physiological types, methylcobalamin as well as adenosylcobalamin, leaving behind the cyanide ..."
Always avoid products with Cyanocobalamin. For more info, go to naturalnews.com, and search "Cyanocobalamin." Removing the cyanide molecule from the vitamin then flushing it from your body needs consuming so-called "methyl groups" of molecules in your body that are needed to combat points like homocysteine (high levels result in heart problems). By taking low-quality cyanobalamin, you're in fact stealing methyl teams from your physique as well as making it do additional work at the biochemical level. This depletes compounds such as glutathione that are often in short supply anyway, potentially aggravating your overall health situation as opposed to aiding it. This is just one of the reasons why low-grade vitamins may really be even worse for your body compared to taking absolutely nothing at all! In addition, if you're young and don't have overwhelming symptoms of low vitamin B12 your body will make enough methylcobalamin for you from it. If you are older, have nerve damage or have been battling stress your body won't be able to make as much methylcobalamin as you may need to recover your health.
Luckily, this same company makes a methylcobalamin doppelganger to this cheaper, inferior one: "MicroLingual No Shot Methylcobalamin B12 (1000mcg) + B6 & Folic Acid." Pop that into the Amazon search box and Bob's your uncle. Yes, they do cost more. Maybe I'm goofy, but another 6 or 7 cents a unit to avoid putting even a little bit of cyanide in my body is worth it to me. Not to mention it's much more bio-available. It's not perfect either, (lactose & acacia gum additives). They make many other sublingual products as well, if you want to see them, type "Superior Source" in the search area. One last tip: avoid anything in tablet form whenever possible. They're loaded with binders, excipients and fillers and can influence the efficacy and quality of supplements/drugs and actually work AGAINST ABSORPTION. Can you say RIP OFF?:^O] (Google stearic acid, magnesium stearate, or anything else fishy ingredient-wise.) Some studies show at most, you can expect to get 50% of the effects of tablets - if you're lucky - that's probably high in most cases. Seek out liquids, herbs, spices & powders with as little fillers as possible. (Amazon has easy to use capsule making gadgets BTW). Oh and while you're at it. if you REALLY care about your health, send an email to the supplement maker and ask WHERE the product you're interested in was sourced from. You might want to think twice depending on that country's food & drug policies & especially their environmental history...
Good luck, and good health everyone! ?;^}]
