I ordered this lamp as a replacement for my 30 year old shop circle light with a broken switch which was no longer available. Only after setting up the new lamp, I came to a realization of the difference in overall durability and basic functioning. While the lamp does have a good magnifier and the light itself is quite bright, I found three things that I deemed unacceptable. These were: 1) The lens and the light assembly is not staying in a fixed position. The adjusting knob is not easy to tighten up because of its small size. I was very concerned with long term durability. How long will it function months or years from now if it is not totally effective as new? 2) The on-off switch is installed on the cord, about 12 inches from the base. Because my electrical outlet is on the floor, the bulky switch tends to slide down behind the desk. It is annoying to reach behind the desk every time the lamp is turned on or off. 3) The lower arm is fixed and not adjustable. It only can be rotated left or right. I am not sure what the purpose of the two balance springs. Is it for decoration only? The product diagram implies that the arms are adjustable at three pivot points identifies with number (4). The bulb is LED, as it is described on the Amazon website, but the leaflet shows 12W T4 fluorescent bulbs.
