Writer sabotaged a potential 5 star rating
This show could easily have been 5 stars; unfortunately, the writer seems to have sabotaged what would otherwise have been an excellent effort. I have several gripes:
1) Sex scenes add nothing to the story; when it comes to Jack's love life leave it to the imagination! The weird 3 person sex scene in episode 3 is unnecessary and played no discernible role in the plot. It appears to be Hollywood's way of desensitizing us to aberrant sexual practices. This scene added nothing and made the whole series unsuitable for family viewing. Just cut both sex scenes, please!
2) The extreme conflict and disparity of behavior within Muslim society was well covered by various characters. The contrast between the wife, the sex trafficker, and the fundamental extremists added to the story. However, Greer being cast as a Muslim was an inappropriate politically correct move. Greer explains he converted to facilitate a now failed marriage. Greer as a non religious "conflicted soul" with a Muslim wife could have added to the story line. Instead, the finished product resonated of elitist, Hollywood, left wing propaganda. I want to be entertained, not preached to!
3) The villain's history of a disaster in childhood followed by subsequent discrimination is a potent story that could have been further developed. Such a clever and vengeful individual would, however, have very clear revenge objectives. It would appear that Israel and French society were responsible for his suffering. There is no explanation for why he picked the two primary targets that he did. The story would have benefited from developing the reasoning for selecting his targets. Instead, time was wasted on unnecessary sex scenes.
4) The future of the drone pilot is never divulged; it is unclear whether this is something for a sequel or a simple omission.
If considering a sequel, please omit sex and cursing! Tell a story as opposed to advocating political correctness. Most of America is sick of being preached to by Hollywood.
