Caution for 11 pro max owners
I bought this for 2 reasons:
1. It states explicitly it is for the 11 Pro Max, which just released.
2. It has a tray for easy, perfect alignment.
I’ve found that 1 is probably true, but I have doubts for 2, despite what the packaging states.
When researching which screen protector to purchase, many were still just for the XS Max (last year’s model). While the phones look identical from the front, and the screens are nearly the same, the 11 Pro Max actually has a slightly different body size. I believe just millimeters larger in some dimensions.
I believe because of this the protector itself fits fairly well, but the alignment tray was not actually redesigned for the 11 Max Pro. They just relabeled the old XS Max product to be compatible with both.
The result was as I applied the alignment tray, the phone didn’t sit in it perfectly, it required a bit of pushing and very slight forcing. This seems to jive with it being just millimeters larger than last years model.
I am left with a protector that is fitting fairly well and does cover the screen (barely on the lower right) but is skewed slightly left and thus not symmetrical from left to right. I’m thinking I will remove it and attempt to apply the second one they supply manually, without the tray. In the end I am a bit bummed as I will burn through both protectors immediately, and have to apply by hand. So like I said, reason 2 for purchasing was pointless. I may also just buy a different brand as other reviews roll in and identify those that truly work well with the 11 Pro Max.
Maybe Spigen can clarify, but based on my disappointing experience, I suspect they just rebranded last year’s product as compatible with this year’s phone models (11 Pro Max). Based on my experience, I can’t recommend this for this phone.
