I purchased this thermometer because I take care of my disabled chronically ill mom that has to be monitored closely. I read reviews saying both positive and negative things and decided to give this a shot. My mom started complaining of not feeling well and showing signs of fever so when I checked her temperature the konquest said her temperature was 97.3. After taking my own temp with the konquest thermometer it said my temp was 97.6 and I knew something wasn’t right. She was flushed, hot to the touch and very sleepy so keeping in my the reviews say it was inaccurate I borrowed my neighbors thermometer. Thank God I did because mom had a temp of almost 103. I ended up calling an ambulance because her blood pressure was dropping and her pulse was getting weak. The tests at the e.r revealed that she was septic( an infection in the blood), and she has been in the hospital since Wednesday, which is the day the konquest thermometer came. She continues to have fevers but they are coming down, she is getting strong IV antibiotics every few hours which is starting to take effect. The doctors anticipate her being in Hospital for about another 10 days, depending on her progress . My point is DO NOT rely on this thermometer for an accurate temperature reading. Its inaccuracy could be the difference between life and death for you or your loved one.
