First book I ever regretted reading
Mean teens, statutory rape, familial abuse, mental illness, class discrimination, torture, murder, all left unresolved in unhappy endings. What is to learn from this? Nothing. Not one life lesson or moment of joy or beauty. Nothing to contemplate. I finished this garbage because of the glowing reviews and am sorry that I did. Is it well written? Not really, in my opinion. Adequate, maybe, for a professional writer, but not proof-read as there are several typos or misspellings on the kindle edition, which are irritating. I have been reading for pleasure for 60 years and have never regretted reading a book until now. My vivid imagination recoils. Look elsewhere.
