Maybe next time, Apple.
This will NOT work as a cellular device in ANY capacity, as verified through multiple tests (and from customer support) at 3 services: -Google Fi -Visible -Ting (Any service variant) Why not? This device has an eSIM and requires a "wearables" add-on plan to any full-contract cellular plan with AT&T, Verizon, or TMobile. (I did not look into Sprint, as their contract requirement will essentially be the same as Tmobile.) If this review makes ANY more sense - as to limited carrier adoption - than the product page, feel free to mark it as helpful. Apple: Start making your marketing reliable and informative... Not just flashy and..... "Beautiful." It's disappointing that Apple isn't upfront and clear about limited eSIM adoption as of October 2020. Their eSIM information exists ONLY on 1 buried information page on website. On this product page? No siree. There is no way around this. So... Other concerns that came up on my end that I would want to know if I were you: -The battery was NOT able to last a full day with regular interaction, on multiple days. I hit 14 hours (from 100% battery to 9%), with no additional apps installed and siri disabled. That is roughly 7am to 11pm. No sleep tracking. Frankly I don't care about any root cause of this, it's just not acceptable... And will only get worse over time. -The speaker equates to mid-tier phone speaker volume, at best. Mids are oversaturated. Bass is not present, which is a given. -The "EKG" app gives little information over a standard Fitbit. The only addition I found valuable from the 🍎 was a pdf output of each "test." Oof. -The blood oxygen app/sensor are anemic, and lack ANY helpful features. Do NOT buy or upgrade for this function. I found it inaccurate compared to other devices: It consistently rated me as 99%... I have severe sleep apnea. Tests I ran both during and without active cpap therapy were ranged from 97 to 99 percent. Oof. --- I would have reading this review if I were excited about the watch, but said bluntly, the marketing team went overboard on this. And notably, do NOT buy the cellular model UNLESS you plan to spend extra dollars (and a likely contract extension) at your favored $100+/month oligopoly, OR if you have service with the first 3 carriers I mentioned above. Do not buy this phone based on oxygen or ecg/ekg hype until it is massively improved. Keep safe out there.
