I’m giving this one star to warn other pet parents of a huge design flaw that could result in huge tragedy. I bought this an an upgrade because of the ability to feed two pets in separate bowls so that my boys got more equal portions. Having used auto feeders for nearly two years with no major issues I felt totally comfortable filling this new feeder and leaving my boys to be with family out of town for a couple weeks believing their feeding routine would remain consistent all would be perfectly fine. I asked a friend to check in on them a few times but told them that the feeder should have them covered beyond maybe a litter and water refresh. To my complete horror I come home to find that both my boys have dropped a visible amount of weight in my absence. In my panic I went to manually dispense some food for them while frantically calling the vet and assessing just how much skinnier they have become I notice that maybe 3 kibbles drop from each shoot. I try the manual button again and get the same results. THE WEIGHT OF THE FOOD FROM A FULL CONTAINER WAS IMPEDING THE TURNING OF THE PORTION MECHANISM!!!! I had no way of knowing when the last time my boys we given a full meal was because of a design flaw now I’m scared to fill more than half of the container or leave my cats without a free feed option which defeats the entire purpose of the auto feeder and basically means I paid $100 to traumatize my animals and myself
