Ok..the book works ok..some minor complaints (still need a separate light..one more thing to hassle with). My Kindle II went dead..because the battery ran down..noticed white lines across the top and down the side..almost looks like white "etcha-sketch" lines. Recharged unit..lines still there. Looks like the screen has failed. I have been reading about a lot of these failures. My guess is that Amazon is going to have a MASSIVE problem with the screens...something is very wrong. Hold off on buying until you here this problem is fixed. BUYER BEWARE. In fairness, I will see how the response is to fix/replace/or refund my money. Gadgets have problems..but very dissapointing from Amazon
