Failed product and weak customer service follow-up
I purchased this product in September 2015 for a little over $80. By December it had ceased to work at all. After multiple email and telephone exchanges seeking to verify the serial number and assure that the product was not used commercially (it was not), I was informed that the the product was covered by a "Limited" warranty, meaning that I would have to pay to return the product to Cuisinart and pay $15 for shipping and handling for a replacement product. I think it is unacceptable for a reputable manufacturer to sell a product that has clearly failed (in under 3 months of use) and expect the customer to pay to have the product replaced. Replacement of the product in this situation should be "no questions asked" and at no cost to the customer. Furthermore, I can't understand why Cuisinart would not want me to return the failed product so that they can figure why it failed. Unless they already know ... Update: After much back and forth, Cuisinart offered to waive the $15 replacement service fee, but would not take responsibility for the cost of returning the defective device. I refused and have recycled the kettle. Coincidently, I had a recent customer service issue with a Cuisinart competitor, SharkNinja. In this case SharkNinja offered to replace the defective product. They wanted me to return the defective device so that their engineers could determine the reason for the failure. They immediately shipped a replacement, and emailed a pre-paid shipping label for the return. That's how a warranty and customer service are supposed to work! I'll never buy another Cuisinart product.
