I've had this for almost a week now, and I still can't put it in my car because the smell is so strong so I have been airing it out on my back porch. I suspect my mat must be different from the one others received because there is no way anyone could say it had little to no smell. I am very happy with the size of the mat and look forward to using it when it finishes outgassing though. I'd give it 5 stars if it didn't smell. UPDATE- after almost 3 week it is still on my back porch outgassing. I could probably use it at this point but there is still a faint smell, and I have waited this long so I am no longer in a hurry to use it. I lowered my rating to 3 stars at this point. Update2- it has now been 2 months. I tried placing the item in my car, and in the enclosed space the slight smell gets overwhelming pretty quickly. I am now using it as a barbecue mat under my grill. If I hadn't cut it to size I definitely would want to return it. I have now reduced my rating to 1 star since I can no longer use it for the purpose it was intended. In fact, occasionally I get a breeze from the porch and I can still smell the mat outgassing. update 3- it's been a year now and the mat still smells horrible, even as a barbecue mat. When the wind blows I can still smell it inside the house.
