Warranty: Blatantly MISLEADING
The Warranty offered by "Honeywell" as advertised by AMAZON is blatantly misleading. The "Honeywell" Warrenty posted on the AMAZON website clearly states this thermostat Warrenty covered by Honeywell with a THREE (3) Year Warrenty. The Honeywell rep (800 468-1502) informed me that the warranty ONLY covered the the thermostat for ONE YEAR from the Date of MANUFACTURE, not the Date of SALE. The Date of MANUFACTURE, get it?. For example, the four digit number on the back of my thermostat (1749) indicates my thermostat was manufactured the 49 week of 2017, December 2017. I ordered this thermostat from Amazon November 11, 2018. Do the math. When I placed my order there was less than a month left on the Warranty! Therefore, If the thermostat sits on a shelf for over 11 months there's less than 1 month Warrenty. A year or more and there is NO WARRANTY. So, not only is there a single (1) year Warranty by Honeywell the term of the Warranty begins with the Date of MANUFACTURE. Why BLATANTLY MISLEADING? 1). AMAZON/HONEYWELL claim Warranty is 3 years when actually only 1 year. 2.). The Warranty states to “return it, with a bill of sale or other dated proof of purchase…” the obvious implication being the Warranty term begins at the date of sale. HOWEVER, Honeywell applies the Warranty from the date of Manufacture instead of the logically implied date of SALE. Can it get more WEASELY. Yes, WEASELY is a word. Honeywell invented it. Amazon needs to change warranty information to 1 year and provide Date of MANUFACTURE in its "product details" so we, as customers, can calculate the actually Warranty remaining. Don't hold your breath.
