Sorry I wasted my time and $.
I purchased this Generator because of the “Remote Start”, cost and power capabilities. We have a 40’ Motorhome with an 8KW Diesel Generator. The new Generator would be more economical to run when Dry Camping and would provide the requisite power to charge batteries and keep my Wife’s Oxygen concentrator charged.
Upon receipt of the Generator I performed all the prescribed pre-operation functions, filled the engine with oil and started it. After starting, I placed it under a light load and ran it for the prescribed 5 hours. I then changed the oil.
On our 1st trip the Generator performed well the 1st day and ran for about 9 hours. I topped off the fuel tank and checked the oil. The 2nd day it ran for about 5 hours. I shut It off after the MH Batteries were fully charged and the refrigerator made ice.
On the 3rd day it ran for about 3 hours and it shut down. My wife asked if I had turned it off. I told her I hadn’t. I checked the fuel and it was nearly full. I started the Generator and it appeared to be OK. About 1 hour later it shut down again. This time it would try to start, the low oil indicator light came on, and it would quit. It did this several times. The oil dipstick indicated it was full. I started the Diesel Generator and used it for the remainder of the day.
On the 4th Day I tried to start the Generator and it ran just fine for about 30 minutes and shut down again with the oil lite coming on. We used the Diesel Generator for the remainder of the trip.
When we returned home I called the Service Center and explained what the problem was. The Lady on the line gave me instructions on how to trouble shoot the problem. One solution involved the Automatic Choke??? The 2nd was to locate a wire behind the side panel and disconnect it, which I did. I then tried to start it and it wouldn’t even sputter. By then the battery was dead. I charged the battery overnight and the next day I tried starting it again. This time it would sputter and quit. I could smell gasoline so I removed the sparkplug and cleaned it. (Removing the side panels is not an easy task!!) The Generator then started and ran fine. I reconnected the wire to see what the results would be, and all seemed well. I let the Generator run for several hours and it shut down again with a low oil lite coming on. I disconnected the wire again and the Generator wouldn’t start.
I sent an Email to the Lady at the service center asking where the closest service center to my location would be. I did not get a response. I went to the Amazon website and proceeded to return the generator. It is now 5 days and I still have no response from the service center.
My son has had a Yamaha Generator for about 10 years and has had no problems with it. However, it cost 2 ½ times the Pulsar. I guess I’ll shop for a “Name Brand” next time.
The bottom line: “You get what you pay for.”
I thank Amazon for the ease of returning the Generator thru them.
