ONE LEG TOO SHORT and many PIECES JUST DON'T FIT TOGETHER I wanted to LOVE this. It is the perfect size for a corner in my kitchen. It arrived today in a box that looked like it had been opened and then taped back together. First thing I noticed was that there are lots of scratches on the chrome parts, chipped and missed areas of paint, (and several nasty sharp edges), second thing I noticed is that this is not the vibrant really bright red color that was anticipated. It is a duller red with slight orange tint. One leg is shorter than the rest. I saw this on other reviews too, but hoped it was a problem that had already been addressed with newer items and corrected within the company. Nope. So, once I realized one leg was shorter (just after the first few parts of assembly), I figured I'd try to finish putting the rest together, maybe it would somehow correct itself once all the braces/supports and steps were added. Nope. I'm the person my neighbors come to when they need something put together. Instructions and I get along fine. I went over the instructions with fine tooth comb and did it exactly as instructed. However, this simply can't be put together because the supports and the holes do not line up properly. (see pics). I am now at a stand still because at the point of putting the first step on it's legs, the second set of legs simply does not go on. One of the bolt holes will not accept the bolt (it just doesn't fit to screw in more than 1/4 of the way it should). It is impossible to complete the chair. (it was already awkward too because of one shorter leg and the brace that wouldn't line up properly) I should also mention that upon unwrapping the seat, I noticed that the cushion cover was coming off on one corner. This was actually the least of the problems with this, but should be mentioned. This chair has wasted over an hour of my time to just get it halfway completed (because of bad parts). Now I fear I have to take it apart again and re-pack it to return. sigh. I really really want this chair, but am not happy about the wasted time nor the worry of what will come as a replacement. UPDATE: It took me over a half hour to take apart and repackage this thing. It's going back. I'm crossing fingers that it's replacement will not be defective too. It really is an adorable chair (but this is an awful lot of work to go through just to get a functional one).
