I didn't believe it but - Eye burning smell
I have to say "Stay away". I don't do this lightly and I'm not a complainer. There is something wrong here.
Ok I've seen some people complain that this crib had a bad smell. i didn't believe it.
Some people said it was fine others tossed the crib.
Bought it, and received it undamaged about a month ago. Color was nice. No problems with scratches or anything quality or visible. Open the box and set it up. Set up is a little difficult but not impossible. Took 2 people about 2 hrs in cramped quarters.
About the 3rd day their was an eye burning acrid smell in the nursery room. No better way of identifying it. I opened the door and the smell traveled into the first floor of the house. So I opened the windows and aired out the room. I figured give it a few days to air out, and it would be ok. The thing still smells after a month of air and cross ventilation.
This thing is off gassing some sort of solvent. I've stayed in the room and found my eyes started to burn after a few minutes so whatever it is, it is an irritant. If the windows and doors are open the smell almost goes away. But, consider putting your newborn in this thing??
Now it was rated as safe by the USA. I'm in serious doubt about the rating, since it appears to be an irritant to my eyes. I can walk away. What about a babies lungs and eyes?
It is made in China, so who knows what it was made with.
I would like the company to respond to this, but others have called and been told it is normal. Not very likely.
I have no experience with other furniture so can't compare.
