i was very optimistic about this detector since i’ve always heard kidde items are top-notch. so i bought this item simply based on kidde’s reputation. i liked the fact the detector is a plug-in type as opposed to those old-school ceiling mounted versions i’ve had in the past. so, like i said, i was very optimistic about this product.....until i awoke this morning at 4:13 am to an ear piercing beeping that made my heart race and my head hurt! i immediately recognized it was the CO2 detector and went over to it. the beeping was so loud the only thing i could think was to immediatly yank it out of the wall. we then checked the stove and water heater and they were fine. we were baffled as to what happened. figuring it was a glitch, we plugged the unit into the socket and again the blaring beeping started up again and we immediately pulled it off the wall again. we’ve had the unit since january 13 and here we are two months later and the unit is done! we tried just a few minutes ago and the beeping started again so we decided to take out the battery to see if it would stop and the unit still beeped! basically it is now useless! i think we got a dud but it’s too late to return to amazon and now have no recourse than buy another 😞
