I purchased this product because I wanted a thermal carafe that would hold more than run of the mill carafes you find at your local discount store. At first the carafe performed beautifully. But after a few months use, I noticed that the stopper top mechanism was sticking. This is the pushbutton device that opens the stopper to dispense the liquid and closes at the touch of a button when you are done pouring and want to close the carafe to keep the heat in. I consulted the instruction sheet that accompanied the item and there were instructions for cleaning the stopper top to prevent the sticking. I followed the directions carefully but this did not cure the problem. So I went to Zojirushi's website and left a message for Customer Support, detailing my problem. After several weeks and no answer, this morning I called Zojirushi's toll free Customer Support number. I got the shock of my life when I was informed that all non-electric Zojirushi products do not carry any sort of warranty! I couldn't believe what I was hearing, so I checked the paperwork that accompanied the product and, sure enough, there is no warranty whatsoever. I informed the Customer Support person that I would never, ever, buy another Zojirushi product again. While the carafe does an excellent job of keeping hot beverages hot for long periods of time, the fact that you have to insert your fingernail into the mechanism to get the carafe to close speaks loudly of a design defect that Zojirushi knows about (why else would they print detailed instructions on correcting the problem that are included with all new purchases?) and refuses to correct. Never again for me for a Zojirushi product.
