Not worth the money (not even close)
I rarely write reviews because I generally try to give aspirational developers of new products the benefit of the doubt. I think the ReMarkable tablet is a great idea. However, at this price point, I don't think it delivers. In fact, I am very disappointed in the product and regret my decision to purchase it. If the product was less than $100, I'd give it a higher review but at $600 it is a complete disappointment.
I like the feeling of writing on the ReMarkable tablet. However, I find the user experience unintuitive and frustrating. So much so that I've stopped using the tablet. When I have an idea that I want to jot down, sometimes, by the time, I navigate to the notebook I'd like to use, I can't remember what I was going to write. The point of a notebook is to jot down ideas quickly when they are fresh. If I have to navigate through 6 steps in the tablet to get where I'm trying to go, it requires my brain to focus on those steps rather than the idea I wanted to capture.
The system can also be a glitchy. It's frozen a number of times and is either too sensitive to the pen touch or not sensitive enough. It can also be hard to find notes that I've written due to the way files are organized. So, again, by the time I find the section I'm looking for, I'm frustrated. If you like being able to open a notepad and jot down your thoughts quickly, you will not enjoy using this tablet. But, maybe if you want to use the tablet for sketching or drawing you'll enjoy it more. I can't speak to that because I don't use the tablet for drawing.
I am also surprised how quickly you need to replace the pen tips. If I write on the tablet for a few hours I need to replace the pen tip. You'll be buying a lot of replacement tips if you plan on using the tablet daily. Maybe I press harder than others but I don't think I'm the only one who has experienced this. Moreover, there is no way to secure the pen and attach it to the tablet so it's likely you'll lose the pen at some point and replacing it will cost you around $80. I haven't lost mine yet but I've had to be hyper conscientious so as to keep track of it. If you've ever lost a pen, you'll lose this one and the costs of using the tablet will continue to go up.
Battery life isn't great either. It seems that a tablet like this should hold a charge for more than a day of use.
The three buttons at the bottom of the device are problematic. They're designed to go back or forward. However, since you lean your hand on the tablet to write, it's easy to accidentally hit the buttons and advance to a different page. This occurred regularly for me and was frustrating.
Bottom line is that this would be a fine produce at a price point below $100. for me, however, it's not worth $600. Not even close. I really do feel like I wasted $600. I'll probably give it to my 9-year-old because she likes to draw but I don't think she'll use it because she'll have too much trouble with the user experience.
