Very Pleased.....Until It Broke On Day 45...and the replacement was a total piece of junk that didn't work at all
Got this off Amazon for $199. For that kind of money, it is truly a fantastic product. It does a great job cleaning up the fur from the 65lbs dog that owns our home. Runs everyday automatically on the first floor of our home, cleans really well, then goes back to it's dock to charge without a problem. I have to empty the collection container every couple of days. At least twice a week, I carry it upstairs and let it do our bedroom and bathroom for us. Rather than vacuuming every day to clean up the dog hair, I now vacuum once a week. I am truly impressed with this product especially considering I got it for 200 bucks. TO UPDATE: Worked for 45 days until I came home to find it in the middle of my living room with an error code that said "wheel is stuck". Wheel was not stuck, wheel was broken. Took it to a local Bissell Service Center. We'll see how Bissell handles it and I'll update after they respond to this warranty request. TO UPDATE AGAIN: To Bissell's credit, they gave me a brand new unit after the wheel broke on the first unit. Unfortunately, the replacement unit is a total piece of junk. The old unit cleaned our entire house before it broke. This unit gets totally confused on an area rug in our hallway that has a pattern on it. The electric eye sees the pattern and the unit freaks out going backward, bashing into walls, and jumping back and forth. The old unit cleaned right over this rug just fine before the wheel broke. Back to Bissell this one goes as well. NEXT UPDATE: Had a 30 minute discussion with Bissell made up of dealing with a moderately friendly representative and being on hold. She explained to me that the unit does not work on dark surfaces as explained in the manual because it triggers the "cliff sensor" to keep it from falling down the stairs. . The area rug in our hallway that freaks out the replacement unit is dark brown and white. What she says made sense except that the first unit worked perfectly fine on this rug until the wheel spontaneously broke and it did not ever fall down the stairs. Then had an interesting back and forth with me explaining that I would have returned the first unit if it did not clean my hallway and she telling me that it is clearly explained in the manual that it doesn't work on dark surfaces. Followed by me telling her that I could no longer return the unit to Amazon as the 45 day window to return it had passed because the first unit cleaned where she tells me it should not have cleaned. Finally, Bissell offered to again replace the unit. They are sending a paid return label and then will send out a new unit 5-7 business days after they receive the returned unit. The representative said that she has no idea whether or not the replacement of the replacement unit will clean my hallway. I'll update after I find out. HOPEFULLY LAST UPDATE: New unit arrived and thankfully it so far works fine. Cleans the area rug in the hallway that the second unit wouldn't clean. Hopefully the 3rd time is the charm. A shame about the quality issues. When it works, this roboticvacuum truly does a great job. YET ANOTHER UPDATE: New unit works great including on the darker carpet in our hallway. Of course, it falls down the stairs instead. Other than that, it works great. I give up. I'll keep this unit and just block off the stairs. UNBELIEVABLE: The 3rd unit lasted 42 days until a wheel once again broke in the middle of my living room. Called the customer service center and the nice lady in the foreign country refused to even listen to my suggestion of a refund. Instead, she wants to send me a fourth robotic vacuum. At this point, don't you think that Bissell would cut their losses and write me a check? They are losing money on me as a customer and I don't want their piece of junk product. WHAT THE HECK, ONE MORE UPDATE:the 5th unit lasted all the way from May of 2016 until January of 2017. This morning the brush fell off. The spring loaded mechanism that holds the brush in place is no longer spring loaded. I called Bissell and spoke to a very pleasant representative from somewhere overseas. He apologized and believe it or not, Bissell is sending me a sixth robotic vacuum. This one is supposed to be an updated model so hopefully the problems are solved---I'll believe when I experience it. Such a shame. The darn thing really does a great job of keeping the house clean when it actually works. I WOULD UPDATE ON THE UPGRADED UNIT, BUT IT HAS NOT ARRIVED: I called just Bissell customer service yet again. The nice lady from some foreign country confirmed to me that they received the unit that I sent back 29 days ago. She also confirmed that the replacement unit has not shipped yet. After being on hold for 5 minutes, she came back on to inform me that the replacement unit has been "out of stock". She then went on to explain that it will be available tomorrow (what a coincidence, one day after I called!!). It supposedly will ship to me tomorrow. Whenever it arrives, I'll update if the new unit actually works.
