This is a frustrating read. While there are a few charming elements- the pets, Nan and her "health" cookies- much of this book is a mess. First of all, Doreen and Nan never have anything approaching a normal reaction to the discovery of a dead body. They are rather flippant and callous about it. Second, Doreen is so helpless and scattered it's painful. She can't even manage to prioritize when offered real help with huge problems that need her attention. So frustrating. Sure. She was a rich mans pampered wife but she is also an adult. I might try reading more of the series but not right away. Too much that happens in this book takes me out of the story and that's not relaxing or enjoyable.
