Read this review first and save yourself some aggravation.
You would think that, if you check the manufacturer of the pitted, rusty-looking handleset that came on the storm door of the house you bought and then went to the hardware store and purchased the same manufacturer's handleset as a replacement, the new lock would fit in place of the old one. But noooo. Apparently, somewhere along the line, Larson made an "improvement," changing the cylinder of the handles from square (4-sided) to hexoganal (5-sided). Why? Why is this an improvement? I couldn't begin to tell you. But they also, for some unfathomable reason, decided to sell JUST the exterior pieces of the handleset without including the inside latch mechanism. So you wind up with a new handleset with a 5-sided cylinder that won't fit into your existing latch mechanism that still has a 4-sided chamber. I've taken pictures, so you can see what it is that I'm describing. These decisions forced me to, after some research, abandon Larson in favor of the Wright Products VMT115PB SERENADE Style MORTISE SET, BRASS, which is designed to fit into doors from other manufacturers and comes with all parts, including the interior latch mechanism. I have no idea why Larson would choose to make a change that would force its customers to purchase from another manufacturer, but they did, so there you go. I recommend the Wright Products replacement storm door handle set to preemptively solve your "I bought this Larson handle to fit my Larson door, but they changed the inner workings" dilemmas. I hope you read this review first, and I've at least saved you the wasted time and aggravation that I and others have gone through with the Larson product.
