Do yourself a favor, do a search on "Western Digital Mybook speed problems" before you buy. Odds are you won't be favorably impressed by the comments or with WD's complete lack of response to the questions raised. For unknown reasons this device goes from "just ok" to "absolutely horrible" in a very short time. Data transfer is so slow that Time Machine estimated 2,415 DAYS to complete a 23gb back up. If I wanted to back up my machine in 6.6 years I could use floppies. I have no idea what the device is doing to make data transfer so slow. Mine is connected to a gigabit hub and the only other device on that network is my computer. Meanwhile, I can upload files to the internet at over 50 megabits per second. My experience is, apparently, far from unusual. It seemed like a real bargain but I've never been so disappointed with a WD product. It's going back.
