SpeedOut Should Be Called NoOut
Purchased Speedout to remove a relatively small stripped screw on a kitchen faucet. I closely followed directions and drilled counter-clockwise into the stripped screw head to create a depression for the extractor end. So far, so good. Flipped the bit to the extractor end and again, followed directions and slowly drilled counter-clockwise into the drilled screw head. I slowly increased the tension on the drill until it was strong enough to turn the extractor so I would not have the following problem - breaking off the extractor end. And of course, the end of the extractor break off inside the nicely drilled depression. The screw I was attempting to remove was/is rather small and the #2 Speedout bit broke off the second the drill turned, despite being very careful. Now, I am stuck trying to drill out the broken off end of the Speedout drill bit and so far, my efforts have been fruitless. The Speedout doesn't seem to be high quality dense steel to the point where it wouldn't break off in my attempts to remove the screw. However, it is stronger than a screw and now, I have to figure out a way to drill out the end of the broken off Speedout drill. This should be called Slowout or Noout since now, things have gone from bad to worse and I may be stuck buying an entirely new faucet.
