I have very mixed feelings on this book. I have to be honest, I liked it (or the idea of it), but then again, I didn't. I loved the "idea" of the story, the child abandoned in the woods, found by a man who wonders what significant contribution to the world he has made. The discovery changes his life drastically. It sounded great. It could have been great. The delivery was less than stellar. I found the dialogue stiff and unnatural, the characters flat and undeveloped. It's not like we didn't have ample opportunity to get to know these people, and share in their lives and feel for them. We were given plenty of time for that. I think they book even went on somewhat longer than it needed to, but given that, and my desire to care for these people, it seemed like eventually I would find that place where I felt a part of the story, where I cared and believed in these characters and their plight, but that never happened. I felt like each turn of the page was beating a dead horse. I'm sorry, I wish I could find something better to say, but I've given this review two days to ponder before I wrote it. It's how I feel. I know that others will have their own opinion and will disagree, and that's just natural. Not everyone can respond the same way and become engaged in the same literature as everyone else. As I said, I loved the premise of the story, but the delivery just didn't measure up. **WARNING BELOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
