No apparent ETL listing for the lights
I am an Electrical Engineer. I purchased the lights based on Amazon ratings and specifications of the fixtures. The one thing in particular I noticed is the ETL listing for both Canada and the US. This listing is a well recognized testing approval, similar to the UL listing. When I got the fixtures in, I proceeded to "look them over." I noticed that there were no ETL stickers, embossings or logos on the fixture. I reviewed the accompanying documentation and found no listing as well. I tried to search the ETL website, but the specific model number for this specific fixture was not among the listed item. I also tried to contact the seller, with no response. So, despite whether the fixture is good or not, I am not willing to risk my house burning down because this fixture was not properly tested. Upon inspection of the light, I also noted that the internal components were not potted (covered in thick, rubbery compound for water proofing) or conformal coated (sprayed with a substance that puts a thin, waterproof coating on the electronics). If this is subjected to moisture, I cannot see it lasting long with the exposed electronics. So, I sent these back to the seller and will forge on with my search. It's too bad, because the fixtures did look great, even though they were made of plastic.
