Not the Seiko of yesteryears
Owned 8 months, and wore about once a week as my “dress” watch. Really liked it - nice fit and finish. As the watch requires movement to stay active, my infrequent use meant the winding mechanism would not be constantly active. The instructions tell the owner to gently swing the watch from side to side to refresh. In doing so last week, the second hand fell off. I’m really careful with my belongings, so this did not happen from over vigorous shaking. In trying to call Technical Support, I got a message saying they would be closed in observance of Memorial Day (a holiday that was weeks ago) and no option to leave a message. My high school graduation gift in 1972 was a Seiko, and it still works. I don’t know what happened to Seiko standards, but this was really a disappointment.
UPDATE: In August of 2019, still within a year, Seiko contacted after sending the watch back in as defective. The repair estimate, including return shipping, was $151.45. The response reported the watch is out of warranty - after 8 months of ownership. Based on my experience, I recommend DO NOT BUY.
