This humidifier works like it's supposed to, but it was too much work to get it going, in my opinion. It will work perfectly if you follow these guidelines. My tips/general comments: 1. The only water bottle that I could get to work with this is a SmartWater 20 oz bottle. The instructions say to use a 20 oz bottle with the "standard-size neck (not low profile)," but I tried a couple other brands (Dasani, Aquafina) but they all have the low profile neck - I think this is the new norm for water and soda bottles as of late. Don't even waste your time with other brands, just get the SmartWater bottle. 2. I saw a couple of reviewers suggest to cut a hole in the top of the water bottle, so I did that. I didn't see any more mist coming out after doing that, and now this bottle cannot be reused for this purpose again, so I personally don't recommend doing that, unless you weren't planning on reusing the same bottle again. 3. Every time I turn off the humidifier and leave the bottle on it (with water still left in it), it leaks all over. My suggestion is to take the water bottle off of the base when it's turned off. The instructions clearly state that you are supposed to take the bottle off when not in use, but I'm a normal human being and did not thoroughly read the instructions beforehand, and ended up with water all over my desk :) I would not buy this product again, after all the hassles that I've endured, but hope that someone will see this beforehand and have a better experience with it than I did! :)
