First, I've been a carver for 50 years and using safety gloves for the last 15 years. I can't say enough about how important it is to use at least one glove on the hand holding your work. These gloves, however, are one step above useless, and because they were a gift, I have to say that it was the thought that counts--and not much more! No safety glove is puncture proof, and they all say that. However, I had used these BladeX5 gloves for about an hour and cut myself on the tip of my index finger. This was NOT a puncture wound. The blade of my detail knife cut a nice HOLE across the tip and, of course, my finger bled nicely as a result. The previous glove I used has lasted for ten years and I've never had a real cut! So, find some other brand to try before resorting to these. Better to donate blood to the Red Cross.
