Not practical for anyone who actually uses their trash
I was honestly able to get over the $200 price tag, because I care about aesthetics when it comes to pretty much everything in my home, and also because I am an avid cook and use my kitchen and kitchen trash constantly throughout the day. I am fine investing in a quality, functional product. This trash can, while undeniably "quality," is the opposite of functional for anyone who really cooks and/or uses their kitchen a lot. For one, you cannot prop the lid open. This is a deal breaker for for someone with a high-use kitchen and who wants to be able to run over and dump a cutting board of scraps, or toss something from the other side of the kitchen, etc., into the trash. Mixed reviews made me uncertain as to whether or not the lid truly props open. Let me be clear: IT DOES NOT. The only way you can get the lid to stay raised is when you also lift the interior rim/ lid that hold down the rims of the garbage bags, when you are changing the bags. But, to prop that interior open means exposing all the interior rim and interior areas to trash debris while having it propped up. It's also kind of a pain to open and close that way. It's not practical. The bins are also just way too small. This was honestly the largest trash/recycle combo bin that I could find, but the bins are tiny. If you cook a lot, or if you have a family, there is not way these bins are a usable size for you. I live with only my husband and I cook us dinner every night and we would have to empty these bins daily. I cannot imagine how much more often it would be with a family. The bins are so small width-wise that they limit what you can put in. Forget breaking down even a small shipping box from Amazon or anywhere else and shoving it in there. Bottles and cans - thats about it. For the trash, it was quickly filled after I tried to put in some old wilted flowers and then cooking scraps from ONE dinner. Way. Too. Small. If you are a true avid chef, this is NOT the trashcan for you. If you have a family and cook in moderate amounts, this is not the trashcan for you. If you are single, or perhaps in a relationship and really don't cook very much or generate much trash in general, this is fine for you if you want something that looks nice and sleek.
