Defective Kettles
The reviews I read before purchasing were better than than other electric kettles, so I purchased 3 of these for my mobile tea unit. So far, 2 out of the 3 have been used for less than 2 months and both have stopped working. After the first one turned itself off after setting it to the usual boil setting, Cuisinart's customer service told me it was a defective unit and they would replace it, with me paying for shipping, both ways, sending them a $15 check with the returned unit. The second kettle has now begun to do the same thing. It will not stay on to boil. It turns itself off after less than 2 minutes. I now have two defective kettles to return. But now I just want my money back, thank you. We still have the third kettle to try and see if it also is defective. UPDATE: I am very frustrated with Cuisinart's inability to not offer any type of refund for these two defective units. I do not want replacement units, and Amazon only allows for refunds before 30 days is up, and these units stopped working after about 2 months. I purchased these for $84 each. The Cuisinart customer service rep I spoke with this morning was less than helpful and actually scoffed at the fact that I could not read the tiny printed number on the bottom of the kettle without a magnifying glass. Wow, rude. So, I have two defective units that I wasted $168 on and the only thing I can do with them is toss them in the garbage. 2nd UPDATE: Our third unit just stopped working, a day after giving the above update!! I decided to call Amazon directly to see what they could do. Thankfully, a kind and helpful customer service person from AMAZON offered to give us a refund for two, and a replacement for one, covering all shipping costs. Happy Thanksgiving & Merry Christmas from Amazon!!
