I was pretty upset since the same thing happened to all 3 ...
I purchased two full matching sets of this luggage for my family (6 pieces in total). On my first trip with this luggage I took 3 pieces with me. On all 3 pieces the main zipper was damaged and unable to open/close the bag. I was pretty upset since the same thing happened to all 3 pieces i took on my trip. I brought the luggage into the local Delsey repair shop hoping this was just a manufacturing defect that could be fixed with new zippers. The repair shop informed me they have 4 of the same exact bag in their shop right now for the same issue, and they are having to repair this problem all the time. According to the repair shop, this is a design flaw with the zipper. Because the zipper is on the front cover instead of on the side (look at the bottom/front of the bag)...the zipper is rubbed on and dragged on while the bag moves around the conveyor belts in airport baggage handling. The stress put on the zipper causes it to seperate from the shell, and for teeth to be twisted and damaged ruining the zipper.
The repair shop informed me that they can replace the zipper, however every time I travel it will be damaged again over and over. Considering I just shelled out all of this money for 6 matching pieces of luggage, and it was destroyed on the very first trip, I contacted Delsey for a solution. Delsey informed me they would replace the 3 damaged pieces with a different model, but they would not replace the other 3 pieces that were still new and have not been used. So...I would be left with an un-matched set of luggage. When I told Delsey that I wanted my BRAND NEW luggage to be a matching set, Delsey told me there was nothing they can do and that I should return the luggage to the seller.
I contacted Amazon, who promptly offered me a refund for 4 of the pieces (great job Amazon). But i was unable to get a return/refund on 2 of the pieces because even though they were bought on Amazon they were from a 3rd party seller. So..now I am stuck with 2 mis-matched, defective pieces of luggage and I am out the $$$ for them and there is nothing anyone will do.
Do not trust Delsey! They may claim to have a warranty and stand behind their product. But from my experience, not only is this a defective design, but he manufacturer knows the design is defective AND they won't stand behind it.
