I have met so many people from all over the world and all different ages. It's an incredible way to meet people but also have fun owning homes, pets and having parties. *** I'm redoing my review since now it's been 7 month of me playing this game. **** Here's the scoop, the game is highly addicting. Especially if your a person that doesn't have many friends outside in the real world or have lots of time to spare. Every Tuesday new content is put out, yes every single Tuesday. Meaning of course your going to want to buy everything and anything "new". This is where they catch you into buying, even more coins. Coins are bought with real cash, there.no way to earn coins unless you start to "level up", in order to do so however you need to spend real money in order to unlock the best content available or like they say use " tapjoy" (yet another pain in the butt thing to do because as everyone knows tapjoy=signing up for things and paying real money, only thing people can do for free is watch videos......you only get 2-61 coins for watching, meaning it would take a mighty long time in order for you to save up a couple thousands) When you first start now, you will get 1,500 coins and 300 gems. However the prices of items have increased so much so, that 1,500 coins will get you almost nothing. Like with any game I suppose, it's their gimmick. To try to get you to spend more. *Now let's look at these levels, right now it goes to 20. In order to get there it takes approximately $120.00 in real cash to get there. In returned you get roughly 5000 coins, that's about $3.50 back. Again, not enough for top notch items. Ladies in this game dominate what comes out in store, recently the prices of dresses have gone up to 7999 Avakin coins...roughly a $10.00 coin package. You saw that right $10.00 for a fake dress to put on your avatar. *Let's talk homes for a second. Right now Avakin has 16 homes you can either buy or get as a "free" gift. New players get 3 New homes free. The rest you must pay. When I started it was simply one Bayview apartment, nothing else was free. Also you get started furniture, guess what though? Those don't look as nice as the ones for sale in the shop. Again newbie furniture, who wants to stick with that? No one, so you go get your self a better everything. Fine. *Dancing,Poses,Emote.....what are these? They are movements you can make in the game. Guess what....Again newbie moves. Moves that people in game actually make fun of. So you again spend real money for coins. *Who doesn't want a cute pet to take care of? We all do, so now you again spend real money to get pets because they are adorable.you get one free pet when you join now. 2 others require gems, in order to get them. In order to get gems you need homes. You only get 10 gems per home once a day, every 24 hours. So to get a gem pet will be 4 days. *So now we've moved basic items needed to start. Let's move on to social spots, this is where you get to meet people and chat.many underage players end up on Avakin and causes people to run away for on it. You don't know if your talking to an 8 year old or an 80 year old. It's actually, and I hate to say i this way. a feeding ground for predators. Why because, although Avakin has this so called " 17 age requirement" nothing is needed to actually play the game but an email and check box. I've come across kids ages 8-16 (yes I know 16 is not a child but a teen, work with me here) I know of a few men in this game that were tricked into believing some of these underage girls were older then what they said they were. Many of them use fake pictures on their Facebook's in order to pretend they are older. Why would anyone go into Facebook to check a personal account you ask? Because many of the people in the game are single, looking for a partner in real life. Avakin is basically a chat room with moving avatars. Remove the avatars and you get nothing but a chat room from people all over the world. So parents I beg you,if you see this application on your kids devices....remove it at once. age requirement is 17 plus. Avakin leaves that part to the parents...Meaning take care of your kids and watch what they do. Meaning take responsibility for their online actions. *clicks,groups. Some groups are nice on Avakin, some are not. Some have missions, some only take pictures and posts them on Facebook. it's not all bad to be in a group. However, some groups like the wonder sisters are full of underage children. So beware, other notable groups...like the The Royalz League are having a good time and sharing their love of the game by being together and helping newbies out. In order to be part of any of these groups you must have a Facebook, many people have " fake facebooks" for their avatar. The Avakin community is heart of the game, that's where all members share pictures, videos and ideas for the game...However certain people flood the community page so much that you must block them. (Badoo man a) <<<<<yeah I'm not going to sugar coat the people that mess up that page. So the verdict is, if you have money to spend. Like speaking to many people across the world and (for men mind them having a limited selection of clothing). Don't mind being bullied at times, because yes like in the real world Avakin has bullies. Then go for it, if not then stay away! (I play the game still, but have cut back a lot on spending. Hopefully my account won't get suspended for this, because that's another thing, if you get reported in the game you can lose you account meaning all the money you spent, will go down the drain. So behave. Update 2017 4/17 ***age limit is now 13 and up**^^^^read above and please don't let your kids play with app. I stopped playing the game altogether and happy I did. I realized how much cash I spent on this game and thier lack of customer service. It's a cash grab simple. What makes it worse is there's no real mods around to check what's going on****
