Based on what I read among these reviews, I think there are two distinct products out there: one that has a true gel core (people have mentioned problems with leaking), and the one that I received which has no detectable gel of any kind. It's a rubber-like material with a foam block in the center. I have a real gel wristpad (different manufacturer) that I use at work and I wanted a second one for home. I received this one and immediately noticed that it was very stiff, but I decided to try it anyway. That lasted only a few hours before I couldn't stand it. Since I knew it was unusable, and it only cost a couple of bucks (so not worth the hassle to return), I cut it in half to examine it. Picture taken and uploaded. So caveat emptor out there. You might or might not get what you expect.
