Seems to use lots of ink and is pretty loud and slow
Replacing an old Canon Pixma that has given me some issues lately. This one set up like a dream and looks great. I do NOT like the manual feed placement. IT's on the back and has no support for the paper and automatically sucks in the single sheet of paper. I worry about future jams if it sucks it in at an angle. It's incredibly loud. I thought the other reviewers were nuts, but this is loud and gives off a high pitch whine when it's printing high quality color. So far it seems to be using a ton of ink for me. The colors were too light to begin with, and I had to tinker with the advanced settings. The color is still off, (too dark now) but better than it was. Printing full color sheets are extremely slow. Way slower than my Canon that's nearly 10yrs old. Quality is about the same. I was expecting some sort of improvement in this area, but nope. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep this as I use my machine to print product labels and if the colors continue to be off, I might send it back and continue fighting with my old machine that actually prints the colors reliably, even if the print heads in that one keep getting clogged (requiring me each time I change inks to run cleanining on it for 1-2hrs at a time.) So you can see why I wanted to upgrade... but if the new printer can't get the colors right I can't see keeping it. Update: A few days out, another few cons I discovered was that the black is not liquid, it is like laser powder toner. So when printing on glossy, it will smudge incredibly easily but will dry eventually. I'm still not 100% happy with the print quality. It's a bit blurry/pixel-y. I went from using USB to wireless and had to reinstall the software all over again to make it work, there is no quick fix when switching how it's plugged in. At this point, it's a huge hassle to send it back, so I'm keeping it now that I have learned its quirks. But because of this I'm still keeping my old printer hooked up as well which is incredibly inconvenient. **UPDATE** After owning this printer for a month and using it on a daily basis, I can in fact say I regret buying it 100%. I use the rear manual feed tray quite often for glossy labels and it's incredibly difficult to load and often times loads it wrong. Anytime I use glossy paper, everything blurs and all of the ink smudges way too easily (it even smudges hours after waiting for it to dry.) It sort of reacts like powdered toner, not liquid ink. Sadly I got busy and missed my return window by a few days, so I cannot send it back, I am stuck with it and will only be using it for basic paper print jobs (those of which are often blurry and the colors are weird.)
