Great taste but take with a WARNING!
I picked this up through another site. After getting it and trying it in my coffee, I found the flavor quite good. I eliminated artificial sweeteners long ago, but still missed a little sweetness in my organic coffee. This doesn't taste like regular stevia. Regular stevia seems to go well with teas but coffee it doesn't mix well. This one worked very well in my coffee so at first I thought it may be because of the Lou Han. BUT...and this is a big one...this product contains MALTODEXTRIN!!! I was so angry because I didn't go and read the label first. Maltodextrin is a GMO corn derivative with an extremely high glycemic index of 150. Soo....I decided to find out just how much maltodextrin was in the product. I emailed the company and was politely told that they couldn't tell me over an email so I would have to call. HUH? This was the email address on their site, that was directly related to their products. It was a product question. How hard would it be to tell me how many grams per packet OR even just the average percentage of maltodextrin was in the product? So I called and basically was told that the information was proprietary and they wouldn't tell me. Ok, so I don't want to know the formula...I just want to know how many grams of maltodextrin is in the product. Here is the list on ingredients on the box I have: Stevia Extract 186 mg Lou Han Guo 25mg OTHER INGREDIENTS: Maltodextrin, Inulin and Calcium Silicate. Below that it says : Discussion: The steviosides in this product should not adversely affect blood glucose levels in most individuals. Ok...but what about the Maldodextrin???!!! I used to trust KAL. Now I am not so sure I can.
