It seems to be a common issue with these Air Fryers - The burning plastic smell that you get when using - But in my case I hand washed the basket and tray twice - put in the Dishwasher & even scrubbed it down with baking Soda and it STILL had that very strong burning plastic smell - I do think its coming from the handle part that's inside the Fryer when running - I will be returning this unit and now am wondering how this Air Fryer has so many positive reviews - I didn't even give it a chance to ruin my food - I did love the size and the display tho - So Sad
