How to tell if you got a fake/counterfeit pair of scissors.*We're figuring the situation out & will update this when concluded.*
When I received these scissors in the mail I could tell immediately that they were knock-offs without even opening the package. As you can see in the first picture the genuine pair is pretty slick looking: really clean cut sharp edges, small pointed tips, sharp black logo with the correct proportions and font type along the center of the blades, the lotus flower has wide black bold petals that have a super fine line barely separating the petals, and tension adjuster and screw is all gold toned and pretty flat across the top. The second picture is the pair I received: the tension adjuster dial is silver and slightly domed and the screw head rounded (even though the plate and tension screw is gold toned), the blades are wider and slightly curved/domed on the top, the edges don't have those sharp clean lines, The tips are wide and flat. The logo has a slightly different font and proportions, the ink is a faded/sketchy gray/black, and the lotus flower has a lot of space between the petals with lots of empty space/thicker line separating the petals. The 3rd picture is of a genuine pair with the finger pads a sharp black with glitter specks in them, the bumper guard/stopper that separates the handles has a black rubber tip that is a little smaller than the nub that it sits on, the nub the rubber stopper sits on has a unique curve and angle setting that is sort of a domed square (hard to describe). The gold finger rest/rod that sticks out the top of the handle has a flat top with a small rectangular notch and a small rubber circle at the bottom where it attaches to the handle, the shape is like 2 funnels (the top 1 larger than the bottom 1) attached at the small ends creating a smooth hourglass shape that has a clearly defined angle where the top and bottom meet about 2/3 of the way down, with completely smooth clean-lined sides. The last 4 pics of the fake pair show that the finger pads are a plain flat black, with the bumper guard a clear/pale dome sitting on a totally flat topped circular base with the sides matching up. The finger rest has a domed top and a gently curvy hourglass shape with the skinniest part of the curve about halfway down the length. I hope that helps you guys. Thankfully Amazon has their satisfaction guarantee. I will be ordering another pair to replace these.
