I ordered this cooling mat a month ago. I ordered the Extra Large size for my 4 yr old dog. It does seem to do an excellent job of keeping cool, and my dog loves it. Although, I would not recommend this product for large, heavy dogs. I have a beloved mutt who is St. Bernard/Pointer and he weighs ~90lbs (not even very heavy). There are several rips and holes in this mat already. His nails have been trimmed and they are not very long, but since the lbs/per inch is rather high, it is easy for this mat to become damaged. The top layer is supple and unfortunately, rather thin. It's simply not very durable and even if I had a smaller dog, I could not imagine it holding up for very long. My dog doesn't seem to mind one bit, but I'm wary of this mat falling apart in our bedroom. So! For now, where's the duct tape?
