It takes two stars because it works... I don't see where is the hype with this product. I bought a "premium" product and got it packed in a plastic bag, not a manual or even the decency of a proper package, the Bluetooth range is abysmal, less than 15 ft in my case, the shunt will not log the battery usage over time ("trend" tab on the app), once you disconnect from the device you will lose that brief history, logging is a feature that even $8 smart outlets have. For example, if you are using solar you will not be able to see the charging/discharging rate over time. It is pointless to set the alarms as this unit does not have a buzzer or outputs to one, more on this one below. Because the device is almost worthless without the app, the app also counts a lot on the low rating... No option to run the app as a service and keep connected to the device, you need to have your screen turned on and the app open to see the usage trend (log), the app will also disconnect from the device as soon as you switch to a different screen and if you switch apps briefly the Victron app it will generate an error message saying that it cannot connect to the device, that error will clear itself in a few minutes. Because it disconnects from the device the alarm function is 100% useless, the device has no buzzer and the alert on the phone will only come if you have the app open and connected to the device, in this case you will very likely be looking the numbers at the screen. No option to export or save any data from the app logging history, no pre-loaded battery types, no logging of peak demand (maximum drawed from the battery), time remaining will show is the dumbest of them all and will show only the time remaining for that exact moment amperage draw, it will not take in consideration your average of use no option to show the battery SOC with a decimal case, only the whole %, in case of a large storage system that 0.5% may mean a small battery for someone else Thornwave Labs have a similarly priced device that will log everything on the device al do all other things this one doesn't... It's just a matter of time for them to sponsor high-profile YouTubers and their product will also get more notice.
